FATE, TEXAS –(August 10, 2026) The City of Fate is excited to announce that a new 147,000-square-foot Target store is coming to the northwest corner of IH-30 and FM 551 (Crawford Road) within the rapidly growing Lafayette Crossing development.

The new Target is expected to deliver a significant economic impact to the community, generating new jobs, supporting local investment, and further establishing Fate as a premier destination for retail and commercial growth in the region.

The store will provide residents with convenient access to everyday essentials, including groceries, apparel, home goods, and a wide variety of household products. As one of the nation’s leading retailers, Target will serve as a major anchor for continued development within Lafayette Crossing, helping to attract additional businesses and amenities to the area.

The announcement also includes plans for five additional retail and commercial pad sites surrounding the Target development. Businesses for these locations will be announced later, creating even more opportunities for shopping, dining, services, and employment in the community.

Lafayette Crossing is a 267-acre, master-planned mixed-use development strategically located along Interstate 30 and designed to serve as a regional destination and employment hub for Fate and Rockwall County. The long-term development plan includes more than 400,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, along with business districts, mixed-use areas, and future residential opportunities, all intended to support the community’s continued growth over the next 15 to 20 years. The development is envisioned as a catalyst for economic vitality, bringing new investment, generating long-term tax revenue, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

“This project reflects the strong momentum we’re experiencing in Fate and the confidence major retailers have in our community,” said Emily Goodrum, Director of Economic Development. “We are thrilled to welcome Target and look forward to the benefits it will bring to our residents.”

Mayor Andrew Greenberg said the announcement marks another significant milestone in the city’s continued growth. “Target’s decision to invest in Fate is a testament to the strength of our community and our vision for the future. This project brings the shopping and amenities our residents have been asking for while creating jobs, expanding our tax base, and serving as another major step toward making Fate a premier destination for families and businesses alike.”

Located just 25 miles east of Dallas, the Fate continues to experience unprecedented residential and commercial growth, making it one of the most dynamic communities in North Texas. The addition of Target and the surrounding retail opportunities further strengthen the Lafayette Crossing development
and underscore the City’s commitment to providing high-quality amenities and services for residents and visitors alike.

Additional information regarding construction timelines, opening dates, and future tenants for the commercial pad sites will be announced as details become available.
