Rockwall County, TX – Aug. 25, 2026 – More than 300 young musicians have been part of the Greater Rockwall Youth Symphony (GRYS) since 2022—young people given the opportunity to challenge themselves, perform great music, and discover their capabilities.
Rockwall County has a proud tradition of educational excellence, and GRYS is honored to build upon the foundation created by Rockwall ISD and our exceptional local music educators. As Rockwall County recognizes September as Classical Music Month, we are proud to give young musicians a place beyond the school day to continue developing their talent through high-quality orchestral training and performance.
At GRYS, we develop excellent musicians—but what they learn extends far beyond the concert stage. Whether our students become professional musicians, doctors, engineers, teachers, attorneys, entrepreneurs, or leaders, the discipline, confidence, creativity, and teamwork developed through music will follow them.
As one former student shared, “I not only acquired the skill set necessary to have a professional career in music, I also learned the skills needed to navigate through adult life.”
Named a 2025 Rockwall Herald-Banner Best of the Best, GRYS has grown because Rockwall County has believed in these young musicians. Every student who joins us and every person who supports our work becomes part of what comes next.
Because our greatest measure of success isn’t only how well our students play. It’s how far they go.
