Josh Martin Announces Candidacy for Fate City Council, Place 1

Woodcreek resident and marketing executive says the campaign is about managed growth, infrastructure, and a more civil council

Fate, TX (August 28, 2026) — Josh Martin, a six-year Fate resident and marketing professional, has filed as a candidate for Fate City Council, Place 1, in the November 3, 2026, special election. The seat became vacant earlier this year following the recall of the previous Place 1 council member. The winner will serve the remainder of the unexpired term through May 2027, when the seat will be up for election again.

Martin moved to Fate’s Woodcreek neighborhood in 2020 with his family and watched the city grow up around him. He says the next several years will be critical in determining whether that growth is managed deliberately and responsibly.

“We know nearly everyone on our street by name,” Martin said. “Fate has been a great place to raise our children. I’m running to protect what’s working, address what isn’t, and make sure the city is prepared for the growth ahead.”

Martin’s campaign centers on five priorities: a more civil and functional council, sustained support for first responders, smart and managed growth guided by the city’s comprehensive plan, a deliberate commercial and retail strategy to broaden the tax base, and infrastructure that keeps pace with development.

He recognizes that Fate’s developing commercial centers and Interstate 30 corridor are the city’s largest untapped opportunities. “Residential growth alone doesn’t pay for a city,” Martin said. “A strong commercial base broadens the tax base and keeps more of the burden off homeowners. I want Fate competing for that growth deliberately instead of taking whatever comes.”

Martin is a leader in recruitment marketing at a publicly traded distributor and installer of building products and previously worked at Deloitte. He holds a Project Management Professional certification and a degree in Mass Communication from Texas State University. He is a partner in a local taxation and private investigations firm, operates Rockwall Marketing Group, and previously served as president of his homeowners association board in Plano.

He and his wife, Cabi, have four children, three of whom attend Billie Stevenson Elementary.

“If you think something in Fate should change, you have the power to make that happen,” Martin said. “Local elections are often decided by a couple of hundred votes or fewer.”
