ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (Aug. 31, 2026) Community leadership and five decades of local history were celebrated Aug. 29 as the Rockwall County Republican Women marked its 50th anniversary with its annual Woman of Influence Luncheon at The Linden in Rockwall.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of Rockwall County Commissioner Dana Macalik as the 2026 Woman of Influence, honoring a career spanning corporate leadership, business, economic development and public service.
A fifth-generation Rockwall County native and 1980 Rockwall High School graduate, Macalik spent 17 years in corporate marketing, management and leadership before returning her professional focus to her hometown. In 2011, she became CEO of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, serving nearly six years and helping lead the organization to national accreditation.
Macalik later served on the Rockwall City Council from 2017 to 2022, including as Mayor Pro Tem in 2019. A licensed Realtor since 2002, she also returned to real estate and corporate leadership before being elected to the Commissioners Court in 2022. She began serving as Precinct 2 Commissioner in January 2023.
Throughout her career, Macalik has also been involved with numerous community and nonprofit organizations. She and her husband, Jeff, have four adult children and four grandchildren.
Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham delivered the keynote address, discussing the work of the Texas General Land Office, including its role in supporting public education through state lands, coastal resiliency and preservation and redevelopment efforts at the Alamo.
The program also remembered the late Billie J. Tuttle, who recently passed away and served as the first president of the RCRW. The organization was founded in 1976 by Jim and Gerry Glasgow and held its first general meeting May 10 of that year in Lakeside Village, with roughly 20 participants.
Fifty years later, the anniversary luncheon brought together past and present members, community leaders and guests to reflect on that history while recognizing women who have made an impact in the Rockwall County community.
