ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (Aug. 31, 2026) – Twenty-five years after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Rockwall County Historical Foundation is inviting the community to come together for a meaningful day of remembrance, reflection and honor.
The Foundation will present its “9/11 – 25 Years Later” experience on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, offering participants an opportunity to remember the 2,977 lives lost while reflecting on the courage demonstrated by first responders, military members, ordinary citizens and Americans across the country.
“Let us not just remember the tragedy – let us remember the courage,” the Foundation shared in announcing the event.
The experience will include round-trip bus transportation from Rockwall and a visit and tour of the George W. Bush Presidential Museum in Dallas, including special programming commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
Participants will also visit the Rockwall County Historical Foundation’s 9/11 Flag Display, where 2,977 American flags will blanket the museum grounds at Harry Myers Park, with each flag representing a life lost in the attacks.
The day is designed to provide time for reflection and remembrance before concluding with a buffet meal at Luigi’s Italian Cafe upon participants’ return to Rockwall.
Three bus departure times are available – 9 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Participants may select their preferred departure time when purchasing tickets. All buses will depart from and return to Luigi’s Italian Cafe, 2002 S. Goliad St., Rockwall.
Tickets are $100 per person, plus fees, and may be purchased online through Tickets to the City.
The special anniversary event complements the Historical Foundation’s annual flag display and its efforts to ensure the events and sacrifices of September 11 are remembered by future generations.
