Little Free Library book-sharing comes to Heath

HEATH, TX (Sept. 2, 2026) Thanks to an idea generated by Life Scout P.J. Franchino of Troop 314, Heath now has a Little Free Library, located on the parking lot of First United Methodist Church, 140 Smirl Drive, Heath, TX.

P.J., the son of Eric and Diana Franchino, presented the idea to the leaders of the church and went out and raised the money to buy the materials and construct the library.

Thanks to a generous book donation from the Daughters of the American Revolution, the library is fully stocked and open to all.  A wide variety of books are available from children’s to young adult to novels for all ages.  The construction of the above-ground boxes protects the books from wind and rain while ensuring they are very accessible.

The policy is “take a book, leave a book.”  Return it when you are through for someone else. The library is registered with www.littlefreelibrary.org which maps locations for all such libraries around the world.

The project is a major step in P.J.’s path toward becoming an Eagle Scout.
