ROCKWALL, TX (Sept. 8, 2026) – On September 5, 2026, at approximately 1:45 p.m., deputies with the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1000 block of Smith Acres Drive, Rockwall County, regarding a vehicle accident involving a juvenile.
Upon arrival, deputies were advised that an eight-year-old male juvenile had been struck and subsequently run over by his grandfather while he was operating a vehicle in the driveway of the residence. The juvenile sustained significant injuries to the midsection of his body.
As a result of the juvenile’s injuries, a request had been made for a Care-Flite helicopter. The Fate Fire Department assisted in this request. The Care-Flite helicopter subsequently transported the juvenile to Children’s Medical Center Dallas for further medical treatment.
This is an ongoing investigation, and the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing the name of the grandfather or the juvenile at this stage of the investigation. Child Protective Services (CPS) has been notified as part of the ongoing investigation.
