FATE, TX (Sept. 16, 2026) — Randy Long, a sixth-generation Texan, United States Air Force veteran and seven-year
Fate resident, has filed for the Fate City Council, Place 1 unexpired term.
Long brings more than 40 years of business experience, military leadership experience, and a record of service on boards, commissions and task forces. He now wants to bring that experience to City Hall as Fate continues to grow.
“Government should work for the people — not the other way around,” Long said. “Taxpayers deserve responsible spending, transparency and leaders who are willing to make tough decisions.”
A Conservative, Common-Sense Approach
Long’s campaign is built around several priorities:
• Protecting taxpayers and exercising fiscal discipline
• Keeping government accountable and transparent
• Managing growth responsibly
• Planning infrastructure before problems arise
• Supporting public safety and essential services
• Encouraging a business-friendly community
• Preserving Fate’s small-town character
• Listening to residents before major decisions are made
Long says Fate’s growth brings opportunity, but also requires careful planning.
“I’m not against growth. I’m against growth without a vision and a plan,” Long said. “Responsible growth shouldn’t leave you with less of your hard-earned money,” Long said. “We certainly need to make sure roads, infrastructure, utilities, and public safety keep pace with development, but we also need to remember that today’s decisions shouldn’t make tomorrow harder.”
Business and Military Experience
Long says his business career has taught him the importance of living within a budget, planning ahead and holding people accountable for results. His Air Force service as a survival instructor reinforced those lessons.
“Military service taught me that preparation matters, accountability matters and leadership matters,” Long said. “You don’t wait for a crisis to decide what you’re going to do. You prepare for it ahead of time.”
Long also says elected officials should remember who they work for. “The people elect representatives on council who will vote like they would. That’s what a representative does,” he said. “The first requirement is to listen and remember who I represent.”
“I’m not running to represent a political establishment. I’m running to represent the citizens of Fate.”
A sixth-generation Texan, Long says he believes the community can grow while maintaining the values that make Fate home. “I believe in hard work, personal responsibility, limited government and accountability,” Long said. “Fate doesn’t need more government. Fate needs good government — government that is fiscally responsible, transparent and focused on serving the people.”
Long says he is ready to put his decades of business and leadership experience to work for the residents of Fate.
“I’ve spent my career solving problems, making difficult decisions and being accountable for results,” Long said. “Now I want to bring that experience home to Fate.”
