Royse City ISD welcomes leaders from across Texas for two-day collaborative event

ROYSE CITY, TX (Oct. 1, 2026) – Academic leaders from across Texas convened on September 23 and 24 at the Royse City ISD Event Center to learn and collaborate, dedicated to creating educational systems that go beyond standardized measures.

The event, hosted by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), featured the Texas Public Accountability Consortium (TPAC), a district-led network of school leaders building on the success of community-based accountability systems already in use statewide, while developing next-generation measures and assessments for broader implementation.

“It’s always a great thing when educators come together to collaborate. Last week, administrators from across the state came to RCISD to share best practices and ideas for connecting to their communities through the Texas Public Accountability Consortium (TPAC). This organization focuses on transparent accountability to communities, based on what they value and think is important to measure. Student performance is bigger than a test score and that’s what the TPAC organization represents. Royse City ISD was proud to host these districts and their leadership teams,” shared Dr. Amy Anderson, RCISD Superintendent of Schools.

In addition to offering Royse City ISD’s Event Center as the beautiful location to host the event, the district also extended great hospitality which included student crafted decor, showcasing classroom to application learning from RCISD’s floral design course and Career and Technical Education program.

At the doors, the Golden Debs, Royse City High School’s drill team, welcomed guests with a smile and cheer alongside the internationally recognized RCHS drumline. Dr. Anderson delivered an impactful message on the importance of cultivating a thriving educational environment, and Elementary Teacher of the Year, Heather Humphrey, provided valuable insights on strengthening collaborative systems during the “Metrics that Matter” stakeholder panel.

RCISD proudly stood alongside state educational leaders to demonstrate exemplary system implementation, and a dedication to a continued commitment to excellence and transparency. With only ten districts charged with leading the way, the district is honored to have multiple administrators sharing the voices from Royse City. Notably, Tyiesha Nelson, Executive Director of Federal Programs and School Improvement, was part of the design team that curated the experience and facilitated learning last week on “The Texas Promise.”

Other local administrators serving on the TASA Visioning Team include Dr. Lorie Squalls, RCISD Chief Academics Officer, and Melissa Harvey, Executive Director of Student Services.

The TPAC event was also sponsored by i-Ready, The Hub TCG, and Imagine Learning.
