Rockwall County Extension Master Gardeners Host “Inaugural Planting” for New Learning Gardens

ROCKWALL, TX (Oct. 21, 2026) — The Rockwall County Extension Master Gardener Association, in partnership with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Rockwall County, proudly announces an Inaugural Planting Ceremony for the new Rockwall County Learning Gardens on Wednesday, October 28th at 10:00 a.m., located at 1111 E. Yellowjacket Lane, Rockwall, TX 75087. (In the event of severe weather, the event will be postponed.)

Nestled between the Rockwall County Courthouse and the Rockwall County Library, this special gathering marks the official physical kickoff of this educational garden project. Local leaders, county officials, and master gardeners will come together for this initial planting within the newly established garden paths.

Designed as an accessible, natural sanctuary for exploration and reflection, the completed garden will serve to inspire guests, advance research-based horticulture and landscaping practices, and cultivate a lifelong passion for gardening throughout the community.

“The Rockwall County Learning Gardens reflect our shared dedication to bringing hands-on, science-based education to our residents,” said Todd Williams, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent for Rockwall County. “We look forward to planting these first seeds today and watching this space grow into a lasting community resource.”

A formal dedication ceremony will follow next year once the initial plantings are in full bloom. Todd Williams will be available for media interviews immediately following the planting ceremony.
