Helpful Reservation Tips
To book a spot, diners can call the desired establishment and request a “KRLD Restaurant Week” reservation, or do so online at CBSDFW.com by following the link to OpenTable. Book early and be flexible; remember that popular places fill up fast and that smaller groups are often easier to seat. Dining out on a weeknight during off-peak evenings like Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday may also help ensure a prime table and time slot. Look for the many restaurants extending their participation by one or even two full weeks — through August 26 or even September 2 — opening up additional reservation opportunities.
Select Spots Now Serving Lunch!
Extending the tradition of KRLD Restaurant Week’s tasty three-course prix fixe dinners priced at only $35 per person (tax, tip and drinks billed separately), diners can also now satisfy their hunger for a fabulous mid-day meal. To celebrate 15 years of fine dining, consumers can test-drive the new Cadillac Lunch Experience sponsored by Oak Farms Dairy in 2012. Spotlighting some of North Texas’ hottest lunch locales, 35 select establishments will also feature a special three-course lunch menu for just $25 a person (tax, tip and drinks billed separately) during their participation in KRLD Restaurant Week. Reservations are required for lunch and dinner service, and diners should specify “KRLD Restaurant Week” when booking by phone or through OpenTable.com.
Giving Back
Consumer patronage not only helps support upscale dining establishments during the traditionally slower month of August; two great charity partners also benefit. For every prix fixe meal purchased, participating restaurants will donate a portion ($7 from every dinner and $5 from each lunch) to either the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas or Lena Pope Home in Fort Worth. The fundraising goal for this year’s event is $750,000 dollars, aiming to raise $50,000 over the record amount generated by diners in 2011 in support of our community.
“This remains one of our most popular fundraisers since it enables diners to indulge their inner foodie and help others all in one seating,” said Jan Pruitt, president and CEO, North Texas Food Bank. “Giving back never tasted as good as it does each August.” Every meal consumed during this timeframe enables the Food Bank to put food on the table of area children, families and seniors with summer being the hungriest time of year for many in the community.
“This appetizing fundraiser encourages friends, relatives and colleagues to gather tableside for a great meal, while spotlighting some of North Texas’ best menus,” explained Todd A. Landry, executive director, Lena Pope Home. “Who would turn down the opportunity to dine out and support the best restaurants at a discounted cost, while helping local children and families in need? You might even discover your new ‘go to’ dining destination.”
