Ducky Dog Day features ugly dog competition, disobedience contest

(Rockwall) September 17, 2012 – The dogs of Rockwall County will be feeling ducky this Saturday. They’ll have an opportunity to participate in Ducky Dog Day during the Rockwall Rubber Duck Regatta.

Ducky Dog Day is a full day of contests for dogs, including an Ugly Dog Contest, Dog Disobedience Contest, Musical Sit and Stay, Pet/Owner Look-a-Like Contest and a Doggie Fashion Show and Contest. Families without dogs will be able to adopt one from Rockwall Pets. And everyone will be able to win great prizes throughout the day.

Ducky Dog Day takes place at the Harbor Amphitheater this Saturday from 9am-5pm. Low-cost microchipping for dogs, courtesy of the Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project, occurs from 10am-1pm. Microchips are available for only $15.

Contestants can register in advance at rockwallpets.com/ducky.html. Entry fees are only $5 per event. In addition to the contests, the stage at the Harbor Amphitheater will be the site of dog-related demonstrations and obedience lessons.

Ducky Dog Day benefits Rockwall Pets, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to making all of North Texas a No Kill zone for animal shelters.
