Local freshman earns championship buckle at State Fair

(Dallas) September 29, 2012 – The 2012 State Fair of Texas kicked-off with a bang for Rockwall-Heath High School freshman, Sarah Boronkay, as she claimed the SFT 2012 Youth Ranch Sorting Championship at Fair Park Coliseum in Dallas on September 16.

Boronkay had an outstanding weekend placing 1st in the youth class along with 2^nd in the Select, 4^th in the #10 Mixed and 4^thin the #7 Amateur against open level riders.

Boronkay, a member of Gold Buckle 4-H in Royse City, has been having a tremendous year, winning multiple championship titles including: District IV 4-H Stock Horse Champion – Intermediate, Texas Ranch Sorting Youth Champion, Bar S Arena Youth Champion and District IV 4-H Team Penning Champion.

Boronkay attended the Ranch Sorting National Championships (RSNC) in Oklahoma City for the first time this summer and was extremely competitive on the national level making it back to finals in multiple events.

One of her goals for the coming year is to qualify for the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHYA) Youth World Show in 2013.

The competitive sport of Ranch Sorting combines the equine disciplines of cutting, reining and penning.  It evolved from the common ranch work of separating cattle into pens for branding, doctoring, or transport. Ranch Sorting is an event that pits a team of two riders on horseback against the clock. Teamwork is the key with both riders working in harmony to cut out the correct cattle and drive them to the pen while keeping the wrong numbered cattle back.   To learn more, visit http://rsnc.us/
