(Rowlett) October 15, 2012 – The City of Rowlett Animal Shelter and Friends of Rowlett Animals (FRAs) would like to invite you to make a difference in the lives of homeless pets. The shelter is full and we are in desperate need to find home for these precious pets. Save a life and gain a new best friend!
In our efforts to reduce the homeless pet population, we are hosting an “Empty the Shelter” Adoptathon, which will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 20 at the Rowlett Animal Shelter, 4402 Industrial St, Rowlett, TX. 75088 Phone: 972.412.6219.
FRAs and local businesses are sponsoring pets to make all other adoption fees just $25 or just $5 for seniors! This adoption fee includes Spay/Neuter and immunizations.
Also a low cost ($20 cash only) microchip clinic will be offered from 2 to 4 p.m. for all area pets (until supplies run out).
Between four and five million puppies, kittens, dogs and cats are destroyed each year nationwide. Their only crime? Being born. In Rowlett alone, more than 2000 pets were picked up by Rowlett Animal Control last year. Only 500 were returned to owners; 771 were adopted or sent to other shelters and rescue groups. The remaining pets, numbering about 700, were destroyed.
