(Wylie) November 9, 2012 – The classic seasonal children’s television special of A Charlie Brown Christmas will be brought to life on the stage by the Wylie Acting Group for Children just in time for the holidays!
A Charlie Brown Christmas will be presented at New Hope Church in Wylie at 7 p.m. Friday, November 30 and at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, December 1.
“Working with these amazing kids is the perfect way to start the Christmas holiday! They have brought the story of Charlie Brown and his gang to life and have brought a smile to my face everyday. I can’t wait for these wonderful kids to share their talent with the community!” said Nancy Whitney, one of the show’s directors.
Emily Carter, who is also directing the show, said that she loves working with WAG.
“These kids are amazing, working so hard to pull out the classic Peanut characters and making them their own,” she said. “It is such a joy to come into rehearsal three times a week and I leave every time with a smile on my face and Hark the Herald Angels Sing running through my head. The performance has all the heart and soul of Christmas and will bring tears to your eyes!”
Carter added that WAG’s performance of A Charlie Brown Christmas includes an incredible boy – Jacob Brown – playing the role of Snoopy. Jacob is a childhood cancer survivor and as a result of chemotherapy has a profound hearing loss. Now he celebrates life every day being cancer free and hears with the use of both a hearing aid and a cochlear implant.
“He plays Snoopy so expressively and so effortlessly, he will bring a smile to your face and cause you to laugh out loud,” said Carter.
