November 14, 2012 – When school lets out for the holidays, why do we call it Thanksgiving or Christmas “break”? With shopping lists, guest lists, and never-ending to-do lists, this time of year is busier than ever. But being busy is a good thing when you’re doing what matters most.
At Blue Ribbon News, we’ve been bustling to bring you our inaugural print edition – a special holiday issue to say Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and THANK YOU to our faithful followers and “true blue” fans. Look for it to be delivered free to about 15,000 households throughout Rockwall and Heath this week.
We also thought that by introducing a print edition, it would be a great way to give those who may not be familiar with BlueRibbonNews.com a glimpse of the good news that is featured on our site every day.
Our online publication reaches tens of thousands throughout Dallas-Fort Worth – showcasing a fresh mix of hometown happenings, True Blue Business profiles, feature stories, guest columns and reader submissions. We shine the spotlight on people, places and events that impact our hometown in a positive way. We highlight local companies that are “doing business right,” so consumers stay better informed and neighborhood merchants grow and prosper. On any given day, we post dozens of new stories and photos from Rockwall, Heath, Royse City and Rowlett alone.
Some of you may be aware that as former editor at the Dallas Morning News, I covered this area for several years. I resigned my position to care for a family member who was terminally ill. But what you may not know is that although I quit my job, I couldn’t quit writing. I continued to chronicle all the good things happening in our neighborhoods, and that’s how Blue Ribbon News was born. It’s been a labor of love that has grown exponentially with the help and support of a caring and engaged community. Thanks to your overwhelming support, we look forward to highlighting even more of our online content in upcoming print editions in 2013.
Visit us online, follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and share your GOOD NEWS by emailing editor@BlueRibbonNews.com. May God bless you and have a bountiful Thanksgiving, a very joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year.
