(ROCKWALL ISD-March 1, 2013) In a special scheduled board meeting on Friday, March 1, the Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Rodney Webb as the new head coach and campus athletic coordinator for Rockwall High School. Coach Webb has most recently served as the head football coach and campus athletic coordinator at Mesquite’s John D. Horn High School.
Coach Webb has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Tarleton State University. He has had twenty-two years of experience serving as a teacher and a coach in numerous districts including Elgin ISD, Glen Rose ISD, Austin ISD, Garland ISD, Royse City ISD, and the Ruidoso Municipal School System in New Mexico.
In 2007, Coach Webb was inducted into the Tarleton University State Athletic Hall of Fame. He led Mesquite Horn High School to its first five play-off experience in school history. He was also named the 2008 District 11-5A Coach of the Year, the 2007 District 10-3A Coach of the Year and the 2004 District 9-3A Coach of the Year.
“We are so pleased to have Coach Webb as the new head coach for Rockwall High School,” said RISD Superintendent of Schools Jeff Bailey. “Coach Webb’s previous experience and continued level of success will be great assets for that campus and for our district.”
Coach Webb’s exact start date has not yet been determined.
