Macy’s helps raise funds for Rockwall horse rescue organization with $5 shopping passes
(Rockwall) August 5, 2013 – Macy’s has partnered with Throwaway Ponies to invite customers to Macy’s eighth annual national “Shop For A Cause” charity event on Saturday, August 24, 2013. Customers can purchase shopping passes from Throwaway Ponies now.
Throwaway Ponies, located at 2368 E. FM 552 in Rockwall, provides a safe haven for horses who have been abused and neglected or who might have been euthanized because of their condition but were salvageable.
The organization also works with women and children who have been abused and neglected, and people of all ages who have special needs: children with Autism spectrum disorder; people with emotional problems or who lack self confidence; and children with developmental delays.
Macy’s “Shop For A Cause” is a unique one-day-only shopping event created to support local charities’ fundraising efforts, which has helped raised more than $46 million for charities across the country since 2006.
“Over the past eight years, Macy’s annual ‘Shop For A Cause’ has raised more than $46 million for local and national charities, providing our associates and customers an opportunity to give back to those organizations that touch their hearts each and every day,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer. “Giving back is a key component of Macy’s culture. We are honored to offer our customers an easy and convenient way to make a positive difference in their communities and in the lives of others, while enjoying great savings at Macy’s.”
Macy’s has provided Throwaway Ponies with shopping passes to sell for $5 each. Throwaway Ponies will keep 100 percent of every shopping pass it sells. The more Throwaway Ponies sells, the more money it will raise!
By purchasing a shopping pass from Throwaway Ponies, customers support the horse rescue/therapeutic riding center while enjoying a day of spectacular discounts, entertainment and special events at Macy’s. Pass holders will receive special discounts on most regular, sale and clearance purchases all day, but some exclusions apply.
“We hope to raise $1,000 this year to help send four horses to a trainer. We are getting a special rate from the trainer,” said Karen Bander, owner of Throwaway Ponies. “By being easier to handle and rideable, the horses are more likely to be adopted.”
