(Rockwall) September 5, 2013 – Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall is engaging and empowering patients to take a more active role in their health by prescribing interactive, multi-modal programs created by Emmi Solutions, LLC. The programs use language patients understand to help them make sense of a complex medical condition, walk them through an upcoming procedure or prepare them for a hospital stay.
The Emmi platform, which is being provided initially to expectant mothers, allows providers to connect with patients and their families at their convenience – when they’re most ready to learn and retain information – and on devices they already own. Numerous studies prove the technology leads to an improved patient experience, drives better health outcomes and reduces the per capita costs of healthcare.
“Our mission is to treat the whole patient, and to do that effectively, patients need to be engaged in their care. Emmi allows us to efficiently and consistently help our patients be more proactive consumers of healthcare,” said Tami Hlus-Hawkins, RN, MSN, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Texas Health Rockwall.
The programs can be viewed on computers or mobile devices and combine an easily-understandable and empathetic voice along with image, text and interactivity. They can stand alone or be fully integrated into health information systems, electronic health records and patient portals. The patented technology tracks the delivery and consumption of information, which enables hospitals – like Texas Health Rockwall – to measure the impact of patient engagement down to the individual patient level.
