Public invited to groundbreaking ceremony Thursday 4pm
(ROCKWALL – October 28, 2013) The public is welcome as the JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall hosts a groundbreaking ceremony from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7.
The event celebrates a nearly $5 million renovation & expansion project that will add 12,000 sq ft to the facility. Local businessman J.E.R. “Bob” Chilton, who donated $2.5 million dollars to the YMCA, will be in attendance along with city officials and community leaders.
As an investor, Chilton said he likes investing in the future – and when making a donation to the Y, he knows he is doing just that.
“It’s an exciting time for members, our staff and the community,” said Bonnie LaVielle, Executive Director of the JER Chilton YMCA. “Our workout room will transform into a first-class fitness facility that spans nearly 6,000 sq. ft. – complete with state-of-the-art weight and cardio equipment. We’ll add spacious showers and locker rooms, and a large child watch room. The workout center alone is going to be a huge benefit to our members.”
Plans also include updating the pool area and installing a new, wood floor in the gymnasium. The Welcome Center will be expanded and the Y will sport an entirely new front elevation.
The JER Chilton YMCA is located at 1210 N. Goliad St. in Rockwall.
