Stop by The Flower-Box Feb 7 to donate a personal care item for Genesis Center, enjoy Valentine’s treats & a free rose
(February 2, 2014) Traditionally, Valentines Day – February 14th, is the busiest day for florists across the nation. Weeks of planning the design selections and preparing showrooms leads up to the actual holiday. The countdown has officially begun.
In the midst of all the customary Valentine excitement, The Flower-Box in Rockwall devotes time to planning the annual “Share the Love” campaign. A cherished part of their Valentine planning for the last three years, “Share the Love” has benefitted numerous individuals throughout the community, from teachers, to caregivers, to older adults, to children, to first responders, members of the military and more.
This year, The Flower-Box will “Share the Love” with The Genesis Center, a non-profit organization located in Kaufman, Texas, that is committed to providing immediate safety and shelter, along with victim care services, for domestic violence. “Our staff looks forward to sharing the love each year during the rush of the Valentine season,” said Ann Cain, Flower-Box owner. “We have enjoyed working with the staff at The Genesis Center planning a special Valentine treat for the residents.”
On Friday, February 7th, area residents are invited to come by The Flower-Box located at 2500 State Highway 66 East in Rockwall, to donate a personal care item for Genesis Center residents (body lotion, shampoo, deodorant, tooth paste, etc.) As a thank you for your participation, The Flower-Box will be serving up delicious Valentine cookies and a free rose.
Flower-Box staff members will be travelling to The Genesis Center on Tuesday evening, February 11th to share the love with residents by providing and serving a special Valentine dinner and an in-house movie complete with popcorn and all the customary movie fixings. In addition, each woman will receive a Flower-Box fresh flower design and an assortment of personal care items.
The Genesis Center was founded with the vision of collaborating with area resources already in existence to help rebuild and transform lives that are truly broken. It is a place of refuge for those in need. The Center offers counseling, shelter, resources for daily needs, parenting classes, job services, medical referrals and spiritual mentoring.
The focus of the center is both physical and spiritual. They believe, with this approach, women are able to progress in putting their lives back on track. Clients are empowered to make their own choices and are shown options for creating a new life for themselves and their children.
