ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (March 25, 2014) Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County is seeking to raise extra funds this year, because the demand for senior services continues to grow as the aging population increases.
“Historically, we have relied heavily on federal and state funds for our home-delivered meal services,” said Margie VerHagen, Executive Director. “We are excited that the Carl C. Anderson, Sr. and Marie Jo Anderson Charitable Foundation have awarded us a challenge grant of up to $20,000. This couldn’t have come at a better time since we have seen reductions year after year as the government works to trim its own budget.”
The 150 volunteers delivering the weekday meal provide an invaluable social experience for isolated clients and the opportunity for early intervention in life-threatening situations. The community’s continual support for the organization enhances the quality of the services to make immediate impacts in the lives of homebound seniors. Now that support will be doubled!
The Meals on Wheels program in Rockwall County, an independent 501c3 non-profit, needs your help. All donations are tax deductible and very much needed and appreciated by our elders who rely on our generosity. Donations can be made online through the MOWSS website at rockwallmealsonwheels.org or brought or sent directly to Meals on Wheels Senior Services, located at950 Williams Street Bldg.C, Rockwall,TX 75087/ 972-771-9514.
