ROCKWALL, TX (May 19, 2014) Several Williams Middle School girls were honored with athletic awards on May 15.
The Wildcat of the Year Award is given to an athlete who plays more than three or more sports during the school year and exemplifies a model student and athlete who maintains with excellence the delicate balance that is necessary to be a standout student athlete. The 8th grade recipient this year was Rachel Hyvl who led the way in volleyball, basketball, cross country, track and soccer.
The 7th grade recipient was Alana Wickham who played volleyball, basketball, track and soccer. Both students are A honor roll students as well.
Also honored were the Cameron Echols Heart Award recipients who represent a hard working athlete who improves greatly, is a leader among her peers and displays the qualities of friendship, empathy, drive, and a positive influence on her teammates. The award is presented each year by Ed and Britten Echols in memory of their daughter Cameron Echols, who once attended Williams Middle School. The award is given to two athletes each year who exemplify the qualities that Cameron possessed as a student and athlete at WMS.
The 7th grade recipient was Brette Thornton. She participated in WMS volleyball, basketball, cross country, track and soccer. The 8th grade winner was Annie McKee, who played volleyball, basketball, track, cross country and soccer. She is the daughter of Gena and Marcus McKee. Both are A honor roll students.
