First step is to convert frontage roads to one way next week
FATE, TX (June 16, 2014) Ground will soon be breaking on a TxDOT project to build a modern diamond interchange at I-30 and FM 551.
As part of this interchange, the current two-way frontage roads between FM 3549 and FM 551 will be converted permanently to one-way frontage roads beginning Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Frontage roads will be narrowed to one lane through Friday, June 20 while the new pavement markings are applied.
The final configuration will be two lanes on both the east and westbound frontage roads with westbound traffic occupying the frontage road on the north side of the highway and eastbound traffic occupying the frontage road on the south side of the highway.
When this segment of the conversion is complete, one-way frontage roads will be continuous from FM 740 in Rockwall to FM 548 in Royse City.
Webber LLC is the contractor on the $30.8 million interchange project.
