ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (September 17, 2014) Shelli Miller, Rockwall County Clerk, has announced she will seek re-election for a second 4-year term as our Republican candidate for Rockwall County Clerk in the upcoming November 4th General Election.
“It has been my honor to serve the citizens of Rockwall County and I am looking forward to continuing my work here with the dedicated team in the County Clerk’s office. I’m working diligently to preserve our rich history as well as continuing to use innovative technology to help citizens access and file documents efficiently and with ease,” said Miller.
The office of County Clerk is primarily responsible for recording and maintaining important legal documents which include birth, marriage, death and property matters, and probate, guardianship, civil and criminal cases.
Miller’s dedication to preserving Rockwall history has been exhibited in a tedious, multi-year preservation project she implemented in 2012 to restore over a million documents including marriage, civil, criminal and deed records that date back to the mid-1800’s.
Since taking office in 2011, Miller has implemented software systems for e-recording property records, e-filing judicial cases and made records accessible to citizens with online search capability. This technology is cost efficient for the county and user friendly for citizens.
Additionally, Miller is the Clerk of Commissioners Court and has the statutory duty of creating minutes of all court proceedings. To provide a more transparent government, Miller made audio recordings of these meetings available to the public online.
The Rockwall County Clerk’s office, under the direction of Miller, has consistently earned the “5 Star Exemplary Award for Vital Statistics” from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Rockwall County is one of only a handful of the 254 counties in Texas to receive this award.
Shelli Miller is an active volunteer in Soroptimist International of Rockwall and on the Executive Board of Rockwall County Republican Women. She is also a member of Friends of the Rockwall County Library and the Rockwall County Historical Foundation. Miller supports the business community through her involvement with Rockwall, Royse City and Fate Chambers of Commerce and as a graduate of Leadership Rockwall.
Miller has resided in Rockwall County for over 20 years and attends Lake Point Church. She and husband John, raised two sons, Scott and Tim, both of whom attended Rockwall public schools and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Debbie Branch, Campaign Treasurer adds “Shelli has worked selflessly as our County Clerk these past four years and she would be honored to continue serving Rockwall County for another term. I ask that we use her experience and entrust her with this responsibility. As a fellow Republican, I ask that you support her with your vote on November 4th and re-elect Shelli Miller”.
Early voting begins October 20.
