Trivia contest to test community leaders’ knowledge of Rockwall County history

These are the types of questions local leaders will be asked during the Rockwall County Historical Foundation’s “Blast to the Past” Trivia Contest and Dinner, a fundraising event set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Rockwall High School Cafeteria Annex.

MRE’s – Meals Ready to Eat – will be prepared and served byRockwallHigh School’s award-winning Culinary Arts Department. The “Throw Back Thursday” menu will feature meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, jello salad, bread and dessert.

Three research teams, headed by Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce president Dana Cullins Macalik, Lucinda Pullen Rogers and Billy Self, will answer questions related toRockwallCounty’s agrarian heritage, municipal progress and lake lore. Points will be earned for each correct answer, and the team with the most points will win Sail with Scott cruises and Keeper Trophies. Second place finishers will enjoy a wine tasting by San Martino Winery & Vineyards. The third place team will take home a Rockwall memorabilia basket.

Rockwall Mayor/County Judge-Elect David Sweet will serve as moderator; Judge David Rakow will judge the contest. Macalik’s team will include Nancy Archibald and Kristen Minth. Captain Rogers will be supported by Jackie Pullen and Diana Chapman. Captain Self’s team will comprise Justin Holland and Linda Duran.

“We have three goals for this very special event: to raise money for the Historical Foundation; to share the rich history ofRockwallCounty; and to have a really fun evening!” said Carolyn Francisco, RCHF president.

The event is open to public, and guests are encouraged to come support their favorite team by making pledges for each correct answer or by making a donation in their name.

The public is also invited to submit trivia questions for the contest. Questions should be emailed to the Foundation at .
