(GARLAND, TX – May 11, 2015) Additional safety measures will be in place for Garland ISD’s Board of Trustees work session Tuesday evening. Guests will notice an increased presence by district Security and Garland Police as a precautionary measure. They will also be required to enter the building through the south annex doors closest to the board room. Belongings will be checked. Once seats in the board room are filled, an overflow room will be opened as guests cannot gather in the aisles. Media in attendance must check in with Executive Director of Communications & Public Relations Chris Moore upon entering the board room. A designated media area along the back of the meeting room will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Media staging in the parking lot will be in the southwest corner. Early arrival for all visitors is encouraged.
During the meeting, Superintendent Bob Morrison and Board President Rick Lambert will give public statements regarding last Sunday’s incident at the Curtis Culwell Center. Trustees will then adjourn into Executive Session, where they will discuss district security protocols. No comments will be made upon reconvening into Open Session. Information items, public forum and consent items will round out the agenda (https://v3.boardbook.org/Public/PublicAgenda.aspx?ak=57909&mk=50157095).
Garland ISD streams its meetings, as well as archives them, on the district’s website. Video can be found at www.garlandisd.net/about/board_of_trustees/meeting_videos.
