(ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX – October 5, 2015) Fulton School of Heath students Jerilynn D. Sanders and Preston Webb received national awards Oct. 2, in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.
The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) selected Jerilynn to become a lifetime member of the esteemed organization, which recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment. Members of the NSHSS get the opportunity to become connected with valuable resources they need to develop their strengths and pursuit their passions every step of the way from high school to their college career.
“We are proud to provide lifetime membership to young scholars to support their growth and development,” said NSHSS President James. W. Lewis. “We aim to help students like Jerilynn build on their academic success by connecting them with unique learning experiences and resources to help prepare them for college and meaningful careers.”
On June 24-26 of this year, Preston acted as a Delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Lowell, MA, an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields. Dr. Connie Mariano, medical director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists, nominated Preston to represent The Fulton School based on his academic achievement, leadership potential and determination to serve humanity in the field of medicine.
The event is meant to inspire, honor, motivate and direct the top students in the country aspiring to become physicians or medical scientists to stay true to their dream and – after the event – to provide a path, plan and resources to help them achieve their goal.
“This is a crucial time in America when we need more doctors and medical scientists who are even better prepared for a future that is changing exponentially,” said Richard Rossi, executive director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists. “Focused, bright and determined students like Preston Webb are our future and he deserves all the mentoring and guidance we can give him.”
Congratulations to Jerilynn and Preston on your outstanding achievements!
