(ROCKWALL, TX – Oct. 25, 2017) You may have noticed the new additions in Downtown Rockwall recently. There are a few fancy tools to help you navigate the Square and all it has to offer.
Three new kiosks adorn strategic locations around the downtown area to help visitors find the goods and services they need quickly and efficiently. The kiosks were funded in part by a grant from the Texas Downtown Association to the Rockwall Main Street Program.
As an Official Main Street City, Rockwall received a $2,500 grant from the Anice Read Fund of Communities Foundation of Texas, which is part of the Texas Downtown Association. The funds helped support the design and installation of the downtown kiosks. As Downtown Rockwall has grown and flourished substantially over the past few years, there was a greater need to enhance the visitor experience and help foster an identity for the downtown district. Years of focused planning has gone into the growth, in an effort to re-establish the area as the heart of the community. In addition, Downtown Rockwall continues to gain recognition as a premier shopping and dining district.
The Anice Read Fund of Communities Foundation of Texas and the Texas Downtown Association were formed in 1999 to honor the legacy of Anice Read of Austin, Texas. Mrs. Read was a beloved and passionate advocate for the historical preservation of Texas downtowns as the lifeblood and heart of a community.
