(ROCKWALL, TX – Nov. 25, 2017) Shelli Miller, Rockwall County Clerk, has announced she will seek re-election in the upcoming March 2018 Republican Primary.
“It has been my honor to serve the citizens of Rockwall County since 2011, and I am looking forward to continuing my work here with the dedicated team in the County Clerk’s office,” said Miller.
The office of County Clerk is primarily responsible for recording and maintaining important legal documents which include birth, marriage, death and property matters, and probate, guardianship, civil and criminal cases. In this role, Miller has implemented a preservation project to restore over a million documents including marriage, civil, criminal and deed records that date back to the mid 1800’s. She also implemented software systems for e-recording property records, e-filing judicial cases and made records accessible to citizens with online search capability. This technology is cost efficient for the county and user friendly for citizens.
“I am a firm believer that advanced technology, employee teamwork, and professional management are the keys to providing excellent customer service. We will continue to develop and implement ways to make more services available with convenience in mind,” said Miller.
Miller has been the recipient of several awards during her years in office, including the highly coveted 5 Star Award for Vital Statistics in 2016 from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Out of the 254 counties in the state of Texas, only 33 County Clerks met the stringent criteria to receive the award. Most recently, her office earned the Exemplary Award from the Vitals Unit for 2017 – a prestigious honor presented to only 20 counties in the state.
Miller was also elected by a unanimous vote of her peers to represent Region V as their nominee for the statewide “2016 County Clerk of the Year Award.” Hailed as one of the highest and most esteemed honors by County and District Clerks across the state, the award honors extraordinary dedication and commitment to the profession.
Miller is an active volunteer in the community, having served on the Executive Board of Directors for Soroptimist International of Rockwall, Rockwall County Republican Women and currently sits on the Friends of the Rockwall County Library and Bail Bond Boards. Miller supports the business community through her involvement with Rockwall and Royse City Chambers of Commerce and as a graduate of Leadership Rockwall.
Miller has resided in Rockwall County for over 20 years and attends Lake Pointe Church. She and her late husband John raised two sons, Scott and Tim, both of whom attended Rockwall public schools and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
