First Annual Gala Presented by Interstate Wire Co.
(ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX – August 1, 2018) Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County is excited to host the 1st Annual Havana Nights Gala, presented by Interstate Wire Co. Festivities get underway at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at the White House on the Hill (corner of North Goliad and John King Blvd.) in Rockwall.
“MOWSS is thrilled to introduce Rockwall County to the 1st Annual Havana Nights Gala this October! Over 300 Rockwall residents and fellow North Texans will be whisked away to Havana with authentic Cuban food and drinks, amazing silent auction items in a true Cuban Street Fair, and an exciting live auction. We will dance the night away to the Emerald City Band. This event will be our quintessential fundraiser year-over-year,” said Megan Riddle, Development Director, MOWSS. “Each year the theme will change, to keep excitement for our guests. We are encouraging theme dress as well! This will be a truly exciting experience for everyone in attendance.”
Riddle added that they’ve been overwhelmed by the community’s support and enthusiasm for the inaugural fundraising event. With just over two and half months before the event, tickets are almost completely sold out!
“We want to thank everyone for your continued support of our mission, and helping to keep the elderly and disabled citizens of Rockwall County safe, fed, and healthy,” Riddle said.
MOWSS announced in January 2018 that they would host the annual gala in lieu of its previous partnership in the Annual Rockwall Rubber Duck Regatta. “For 8 years, The Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Texas and MOWSS have had a wonderful partnership and successfully run the Duck Regatta each September. It was mutually decided, between both organizations, that the future success of this event [Rockwall Rubber Duck Regatta] would be best handled by a single organization. We are excited for The Boys and Girls Club, and will continue to help support their efforts moving forward,” said Margie VerHagen, MOWSS Executive Director.
MOWSS will provide over 65,000 meals to more than 475 seniors and disabled citizens in Rockwall County in 2018 alone. Projected numbers suggest that Rockwall County will be home to 22,000 plus seniors by 2019. Fundraising events are vital to the success of MOWSS’ mission, and help guarantee that every senior is provided a nutritious meal, daily human contact, and supportive services.
Sponsorships, limited tables and tickets for the 1st Annual Havana Nights Gala are still available and start at $150. For tickets, sponsorships and more information, visit www.rockwallmealsonwheels.org/havana , email mriddle@rockwallmealsonwheels.org or call 972.771.9514.
