(ROCKWALL, TX – Sept. 23, 2019) The Friday Study Club, recognized as Rockwall’s oldest women’s club, celebrated its 100th Anniversary Tea on Sept. 20 at the Liberty Hall in the Rockwall County Courthouse. The lovely Tea was well appointed with formal white tablecloths, flower bouquets, silver, a catered luncheon, professional photographer, and harpist.
The event was highlighted by Peg Pannell Smith, chairman of the Tea, recognizing Rockwall County Judge David Sweet and Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt, who read the Proclamations. The U.S. Flag, which had been flown over the Capitol from Congressman John Ratcliffe, was also presented by Peg Pannell Smith. It was a great celebration for the club’s 100th anniversary, and enjoyed by its members and many guests.
The Friday Study Club was organized in 1919, with the purpose of stimulating intellectual and moral development and to promote every interest for the community. The club was instrumental in starting the Rockwall County Library and continues to make annual donations to the Library and Terrell State Hospital.
