(ROWLETT, TX — Dec. 2, 2019) Come and enjoy a free and open to the public hometown old-fashioned Christmas event at Iris Memory Care of Rowlett on Dec. 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and help out the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Dallas and the Veteran’s Resource Center at the same time.
“The Center will be lit up with Christmas lights and we’ll be taking pictures with Santa,” says organizer Taylor Lee. “Of course it wouldn’t be the holidays without a little shopping, so we’ll also have vendors, crafts, and hand-made holiday yard art. You can also enjoy holiday treats and hot chocolate while you check things off your shopping list.”
Brooke Boatright, constituent event manager with the Alzheimer’s Association Dallas and Northeast Texas Chapter, says that in addition to the Veteran’s Resource Center, the proceeds will also help out a major Alzheimer’s fund raiser. “The Longest Day” is held on June 20, which is the summer solstice,” says Boatright. “It’s a fun day of people doing things non-stop to raise money for Alzheimer’s research, from bowling to playing bridge to walking to even singing Christmas carols. While the event is only one day, we raise funds throughout the year.”
The evening will conclude with a candlelight service and the Christmas favorite “Silent Night.”
