(ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX – Dec 3, 2019) Rockwall ISD, along with the Rockwall Education Foundation, recently hosted its 4th Annual District VEX IQ Robotics Tournament. It was held at the Gene Burton College & Career Academy. Approximately 300 students, families and volunteers were in attendance and 20 RISD elementary robotics teams registered for the event.
The tournament was sponsored by the Rockwall Education Foundation under the leadership of Ashlei Neill. The Foundation provided volunteer judges, sold t-shirts and provided concessions. All proceeds from sales benefit RISD Education Foundation grants.
The tournament was run by both the Rockwall Heath High School Black Hawk Robotics Team and the Rockwall High School Full Metal Jackets Robotics Team. Both high school teams also mentor elementary robotics teams throughout the year. The high school robotics teams hosted mentoring nights at the Gene Burton College & Career Academy to prepare teams for participation in the event.
