New McKinney tennis center features 11 courts
The McKinney Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department will host a grand opening event of the newly constructed tennis complex, the Courts at Gabe Nesbitt Community Park, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. The tennis center is located at 3253 Alma Rd.
The new complex features a modern 3,500 sq. ft. clubhouse with a wrap-around patio, 11 lit courts including a signature stadium court with a spectator viewing area, and room for special events. The Courts, managed by Lifetime Tennis, will offer year-round leagues, lessons and a retail shop.
“The community has been waiting for this tennis center, and we are all very excited to officially open the doors and show off our beautiful new facility. The opening event characterizes the Courts, because this is a community center open for all ages and levels of players,” said Parks, Recreation and Open Space Director Lemuel Randolph.
The grand opening presents a great opportunity for first-timers interested in tennis to meet other players and pros and coaches at the center. Activities during the event include exhibition matches, a serve competition, “beat the pro” game and raffle drawings.
