‘Signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence’ Exhibit @ The Bailey House

Beginning April 6, 2021, The Rockwall County Historical Foundation will present “Signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence,” an exhibition by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Through twenty panels of photographic images and captions, “Signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence” presents an expanded look at these fifty-nine extraordinary men who brought modern Texas into being.

The exhibition will be available to the public from April 6 to May 16 in the Bailey House at 903 East Washington Street. Exhibit hours are: Tuesday – Friday 1:00pm – 5:00PM and 10:00am – 5:00pm on Saturday. For more information about viewing hours or to arrange group visits, contact the Museum at 972-722-1507.

Rainbow Drum Jam @ The Harbor Rockwall

Musicians and music lovers are invited to participate in the Weekly Rainbow Drum Jam at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday nights at the Rockwall Harbor Amphitheater. The sun setting over Lake Ray Hubbard makes a beautiful backdrop for the weekly jam session hosted by the local reggae/worldbeat group known as Watusi. Bring drums and other instruments, food, and drinks and enjoy the good vibes. Families/children are encouraged to take part! Spectators welcome, too.

Job Connection Workshops at Lake Pointe Church @ Lake Pointe Church - Room A-128

The Job Connection program will return to the Lake Pointe Church campus to provide FREE workshops beginning Wednesday, March 31. The workshops will be held over a four-week period every Wednesday, and start at 9 a.m. in Room A-128. Each workshop is centered around the theme, “Finding a Job in Today’s Online World”:

  • “Beginning Your Job Search” — Wednesday, March 31
  • “Writing an Accomplishment-Based Resume” — Wednesday, April 7, 2021
  • “Interview Techniques in Today’s World” — Wednesday, April 14, 2021
  • “Networking in the Hidden Job Market” — Wednesday, April 21, 2021

The Job Connection program is broken into two related and integrated sections:

  • Classroom-Style Training Workshops
  • Networking/Discussion Style Meetings

Classroom-Style Training Workshops 

This is a series is a classroom-style training program that is traditionally conducted every Wednesday Room A-128 of Lake Pointe Church. However, during the pandemic period during the year 2020, all meetings were conducted on Zoom. The entire workshop series is repeated throughout the year every Wednesday. Four Classroom-Style Training Workshops are conducted on a rotating basis each Wednesday from 9:00 AM to noon.

Networking/Discussion Style Training

These meetings are conducted each Thursday from 9:00 AM to noon. These workshops are intended to be a supplement to the classroom training by making the classroom less formal with a more personalized approach.

Mobile Community Food Pantry @ Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church

Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church has a Catholic Charities Dallas mobile community food pantry every third Tuesday of the month from 9-11 a.m.

The next date for the mobile pantry at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church is Jan. 19. Fresh fruit, vegetables, and other food items are provided at no cost.
