(Garland ISD) September 9, 2012 – The Garland ISD Board of Trustees hosted a public hearing, then later approved the district’s 2012-13 budget and tax rate at its Aug. 28 school board meeting.
The hearing was held at the Harris Hill Administration Building, in accordance with Texas Property Tax Code, allowing for public comment. After the hearing, Trustees opened the school board meeting and unanimously voted in support of the $471,492,541 operating budget for 2012-13. The total tax rate of $1.2533—which consists of a $0.2133 Insurance and Sinking Fund (I&S) tax rate and a $1.0400 Maintenance and Operations (M&O) tax rate—was also approved.
This marks the sixth-consecutive budget GISD has not increased its tax rate. The $1.25 figure ranks among the lowest tax rates of all school districts in Dallas-Fort Worth.
