Mayor, councilman, visit YMCA Angel Camp

Rockwall City Councilman Cliff Sevier talks with Angel Campers during a special visit Aug. 10.

Rockwall YMCA Angel Camp welcomed several special visitors Wednesday, Aug. 10. Rockwall Mayor David Sweet, City Councilman Cliff Sevier, and Rockwall PreSchool Association members Melanie Orchard and Diedre Tomasino paid a visit to the campers.

Angel Camp is a four week summer camp for kids with special needs.  Angle Campers shoot BBgun and bows and arrows, ride in canoes, enjoy chapel service, play games and swim every day.   They also take field trips that include horseback riding and sailing aboard Seawolf on Lake Ray Hubbard.

Angel Camp is provided at no cost to campers using Partners Campaign funds.  Partners Campaign is the annual YMCA fundraiser which allows the Y to offer financial assistance to those who can’t afford YMCA membership or programs.

Due to its popularity the last couple of years, Angle Camp was expanded this year to four weeks to serve more kids.  The Y partners with several community groups and agencies to provide Angel Camp including the Rockwall Kiwanis Club.

The Rockwall YMCA is located at 1210 N. Goliad St. in Rockwall.
