(Lake Ray Hubbard) Christmas in November at The Harbor is a wonderful way to kick-start the season and catch that magical feeling that brings out the best in all of us – especially since Santa has promised to make The Harbor in Rockwall one of his first stops of the season!
Experience it Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the 2nd Annual Home for the Holidays extravaganza, a fundraiser benefiting Rockwall County Helping Hands that marks the beginning of Holidays 2011and offers something for everyone.
Response has been tremendous for this event, but its director, Melody Hail, needshelp in securing Live Auction donations for the magnificent Gala at the beautiful Hilton Bella Harbor the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 5.
“Gala tickets are almost sold-out, we have more than 20 trees entered in our Festival of Trees decorating contest, and we are excited about the all day Vendor Fair Market. Our newest event, Breakfast with Santa, is promising to be great fun for kids and adults,” Hail explained. “Now, we are turning our focus to the Live Auction.”
Big-ticket items are really needed, but we are happy to group smaller items together to create great fun auction packages.
“Last year we had the ’Honey-Do’ package that offered maintenance services – including installation of outdoor Christmas lights. It was one of our most popular items,” she said.
Another popular entry was a collection of baseball bats donated by Helping Hands board member Lorne Liechty. They were signed by four of the top five homerun hitters in Major League history, and they were from his private collection.
“This is a great way to donate merchandise or gift certificates to market your business,” Hail added. “At the same time, you’re supporting Helping Hands, a non-profit assistance agency that is there when our residents are in crisis.”
If you could donate a week in your vacation home, a stay at a fishing lodge, a trip or jewelry – or if you could put together an exciting package of goodies with your friends or donate items to go in a package – it would help make our Live Auction a true success by raising money for such a worthy cause.
“Remember, when you make a financial donation to Helping Hands, your money stays in Rockwall to help Rockwall residents,” Hail said.
There is still time to sign up for the Festival of Trees Decorating Contest or to rent a space for the Vendor Fair Market. And, don’t forget to get your Breakfast with Santa tickets ($20 per person). A few Gala tickets are still available at $75 per person for the dinner/dance featuring Random Axis.
The amazing Christmas trees, decorated by local groups and businesses, will be available in a silent auction and selected trees will be available in the Live Auction.
