Congratulations to Lara Staggs, the Q4 2011 DAISY nurse honoree at Lake Pointe Medical Center in Rowlett.
Lara has been employed at Lake Pointe Medical Center since 2002. She worked on the medical floor when she came to LPMC then developed an interest in the care of wounds with patients.
Lara stepped out of her comfort zone and took on the development of the LP Wound Care Center clinical coordinator role, where she was trained in wounds and hyperbaric therapy. The center was recognized for two years during her tenure there as a Center of Distinction due to patient healing rates.
After her time at the LPWCC, she decided to again bring her wound knowledge back to the surgical floor at LPMC where she currently is working under Jenny Humpal on the surgical unit. She is called upon to assist in looking at our patients with wounds and has become a resource and continues to refer patients to our outpatient center. She is an advocate not only for her patients but for LPMC.
Lara routinely receives recognition and comments from her patients.

She assisted me with a difficult time in the hospital and resolved some issues with me in a timely manner. She continued to give me the same attention to my care the remainder of my stay.”

Lara graduated from her bridge program for her BSN while working full time, single parenting, and caring for three high energy young men.
