Local rose experts share tips on care, feeding; use of roses in landscape
Covington’s, an independently owned 18-acre nursery in Rowlett, is hosting their annual All About Roses event on Saturday, Feb. 25.
This is a day devoted to roses where anyone may come to meet and learn from local rose experts about the care and feeding of roses, using roses in your landscape, and top performing roses for our area.
Free classes during the day include:
10 a.m. – Creating an Easy Care Rose Garden with Vicki Agee, president of the Dallas Rose Society and Dallas County Master Gardener
11 a.m. – EarthKind Roses and Basic Pruning Techniques with Tammy Risser, Dallas County Master Gardener
1 p.m. – Landscaping with Roses with Lee Glover, Horticulturist and Assistant Landscape Coordinator at Covington’s
Throughout the weekend Covington’s will have a special sale on roses. They have more than 4,000 roses in stock, including new introductions for 2012 and many roses which have earned the prestigious AARS, EarthKind, or Texas Superstar designation.
Covington’s also has a limited number of the popular Peggy Martin climbing rose which has received widespread fame because it survived Hurricane Katrina!
