The 6th Annual Cameron Echols Memorial Basketball Tournament will be Saturday, Feb. 25. Games will be played at the Rockwall YMCA, Williams Middle School and the Rockwall ISD Administration Building.

The tournament honors the memory of Cameron Echols, a 13-year-old Rockwall student and athlete who, after playing in a league basketball game, collapsed and died from sudden cardiac arrest on July 31, 2006.Cameron Echols

Cameron was a dedicated academic achiever at Williams Middle School. She had a gift for playing sports; basketball, volleyball and soccer were her favorites.

The YMCA Basketball Tournament helps raise funds for the Rockwall YMCA Partners Campaign, which provides scholarships for children who would not otherwise be able to participate in YMCA activities.

This tournament includes many different age divisions: 5-year-old co-ed; 6-year-old co-ed; 7 and 8-year-old boys and girls divisions; 9 and 10-year-old boys and girls divisions; and 11 and 12-year-old boys and girls divisions. There is also an adult division for men and co-ed teams.

Registration forms can be picked up at the Rockwall YMCA. The entry fee is $30 per player. Each person must register with a team and all participants will receive a tournament tee shirt.
