(Wylie) Sprains, strains, and chest pain. Access to quality medical care for you and your family is now closer to home.
Construction is will be starting shortly on a new Emergency Department and Imaging Center located right in the heart of Wylie at Highway 78 and FM 544.
The Lake Pointe Emergency Department and Diagnostic Imaging Center, which are departments of Lake Pointe Health Network, are slated to open in November of 2012 and will provide advanced care in a comfortable, patient-centered atmosphere with easy access from Wylie and neighboring communities.
“Everyone at Lake Pointe Health Network is excited to bring our award-winning service and quality to the greater Wylie community. We are making a financial commitment of nearly $10 million for this project. The City of Wylie has been an outstanding partner in making this project a reality, and we are delighted to invest in and look forward to partnering with the community to improve the health and well being of its citizens,” stated Eric Evans, Chief Executive Officer of the Lake Pointe Health Network. “This project is planned to open in November of this year and will provide convenient, high-quality diagnostic imaging and emergency access to the greater Wylie community.”
Once opened, the Emergency Department in Wylie will be available to care for your health care needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The emergency department will be staffed by board certified emergency medicine physicians and registered nurses, who will provide the same high-level of care found at the Lake Pointe Medical Center’s Emergency Department. And with Primary Stroke Center Certification, we are ready for just about any emergency you can imagine.
“This medical complex will truly be a benefit to our citizens and our surrounding communities,” explains Eric Hogue, Mayor of Wylie. “Not only will it bring in medical professionals who will be able to provide a new level of service and support to Wylie, but it also will provide a 24-hour emergency department to help individuals in their time of need. This is a win-win for the citizens of Wylie.”
Like the Emergency Department at Lake Pointe Medical Center, the new Emergency Department in Wylie will be equipped to care for a wide range of emergency medicine needs. All staff members are specially trained using a systematic and multidisciplinary approach to patient care that allows physicians to reduce the time to treatment during the early stages of a heart attack or stroke, when treatments are most effective. The team will consult with highly trained neurologists through Specialists on Call, an advanced telecommunications system referred to as telemedicine, that provides 24/7 access to stroke consultation support.
“Wylie Fire & Rescue is excited to welcome another team member in the community to help with the provision of emergency medical services,” explains Randy Corbin, Fire Chief, Wylie Fire Rescue. “The fact that an emergency department operated 24/7/365 will be right here in Wylie means that cases can be taken there with a short transport time, and the Medic Unit with its Paramedics can be immediately back in service, ready for another call. Currently, turn-around time can be 45 minutes or more due to transports to emergency rooms in other cities.”
The Imaging Center in Wylie will offer comprehensive diagnostic imaging services to diagnose a wide range of medical conditions and injuries. Computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), digital mammography, X-ray, ultrasound and bone densitometry services as well as laboratory services will be available for emergent and outpatient diagnostic testing needs at the new center. The Imaging Center will have a dedicated waiting area for patients with modern, comfortable accommodations.
And because the Emergency Department and Imaging Center are affiliated with Lake Pointe Medical Center, you will receive the same in-network benefit coverage from your health insurance plan as you would if you were visiting the hospital. Lake Pointe is in-network with more than 50 major health insurance plans to help you focus on getting back to health.
