Rockwall ISD offers summer childcare, camps

Rockwall ISD’s after-school care program, ROCK, will offer childcare throughout the summer for the first time.

Starting on June 4, 2012, ROCK will offer childcare at Amanda Rochell Elementary from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for children ages 5 and up. Full-day and half-day options are available.

Additionally, summer camps will be held throughout the summer for both ROCK and non-ROCK kids. ROCK summer care ends on August 10, 2012.

ROCK summer care will be based on an African Adventures curriculum where students will study African cultures. Three options are available for registry: Option 1 costs $150 per week for full-day care, Option 2 costs $90 per week for half-day care (either 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 to 6:00 p.m.), and Option 3, for daily care,  costs $35 per day. A $30 supply fee applies to all enrollees that includes a ROCK t-shirt. Reduced pricing is available for those who qualify.

In addition to ROCK summer care, the district is offering individual summer camps through June and July. Most camps are mornings only from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Your child does not have to be enrolled in ROCK summer care to take these camps. Anyone is welcome to sign up for one or more classes. Offerings include guitar lessons, robotics, drama classes, ARC of Dallas special education courses, art, TOT’s and Camp Invention, a hands-on science camp. Summer camps start as low as $60 per week.

For a complete listing of camps, visit rockwallisd.com/rock, or call 972-771-0605. Registration for both ROCK summer care and ROCK summer camps can be found online.  Both ROCK summer care and all ROCK summer camps will be held at Amanda Rochell Elementary located at 899 Rochell Court in Rockwall.
