Rowlett Public Library’s summer calendar packed with activities for kids, adults

Did you know that the Rowlett Public Library has a more than 75,000 books you can browse through, and more than 4,000 movies to entertain your family? Music, audiobooks, ebooks, magazines and large print books are available for you to borrow. And this summer, there are several exciting activities planned for young and old at the library.

The Rowlett Public Library is located at 3900 Main St.

Here is the June line-up:

Weekly Children’s Programs 

Baby Story Time – Mondays:  Walking Babies 10:30-11:15 a.m. and Lapsit Babies 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

Interactive story time between baby and caregiver includes songs, nursery rhymes, big books, puppets, peek-a-boo parachute play and bubbles; followed by a short play time. 

Toddler Story Time – Wednesdays:  10:30-11:15 a.m.

Books, songs, action rhymes, finger plays, puppets, a simple craft, bubbles and parachute play.

Preschool Story Time – Fridays:   10:30-11:15 a.m.

Books, songs, action rhymes, finger plays, flannel stories, puppets, music and marching, a craft, bubbles and parachute play.

Story Time at McDonald’s– 10:30 a.m.

Come to McDonald’s for books, songs, action rhymes, finger plays, and a craft!

Hwy 66 & Rowlett Rd – presented on the 2nd Tuesday of every month

Lakeview Pkwy, between Chiesa and Dalrock – presented on the 4th Tuesday of every month

Adult and Family Programs

Knitting ClubPresented on the 3rd Tuesday at 7 p.m.  Knitters of all skill levels welcome.

Celebrate Star Wars Books – Saturday, June 30, 2 p.m.

Prizes, games, puzzles, and surprise visitors.

Summer Reading Club Kick-Off – Monday, June 4, 2 p.m.

Featuring Radio Disney and DART on the Library Lawn. Come pick up your reading log at the Reference Desk.

Adult Summer Reading – June 4 through July 23 “Summertime…and the Reading is easy!”

Read one adult level book a week and sign up for a chance to win a $20 gift card. You will only be able to win one gift card, but every week you read a book will increase your chances of winning the grand prize a $75 BOWLARAMA Extravaganza package.

SRP School Age Programs – Tuesdays at 2 p.m. at the Rowlett Community Centre

June 5: Science of Spin. Be amazed at the performance of Valerie Oliver, winner of the World award for Yo-Yo Excellence.

June 12: Brett Roberts’ Magic School. Action, magic, and laughter are featured in this interactive show.

June 19: James Wand’s Magic Show. James Wand’s magical show includes clues, secret codes and lots of magic as you help him on a top secret mission. James Wand has performed at the White House and on TV!

June 26: Miki the Monkey. Enjoy the antics of Miki the trick monkey. Bring your camera.

SRP Teen & Tween Programs – Wednesdays at 2 p.m. at the Library

June 6: Teen Scene Investigation. Teens will learn CSI techniques from Rowlett Police Officers.

June 13: Realm of the Unknown. Forensic Scientists will spook you out with fascinating but spooky science.

June 20: Video Game Careers. Local video game designers will show you how to map your career.

June 27: Mystery Scavenger Hunt. Have a scary good time with a Library Mystery Hunt.
