(Rockwall) August 12, 2012 – Participation in yesterday’s Hot Rocks Bike Race exceeded expectations, with more than 1,050 riders coming out bright and early to Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium in Rockwall for intense competition and family fun.
The 26th annual event attracted all levels of riders, from aggressive to beginners to children, taking part in either the 13.5, 43, and 57 mile courses.
“The atmosphere was contagiously fun,” said one volunteer, who helped serve drinks, ice and fruit at one of several fully-stocked rest stops along the race route. “The weather was gorgeous; we were blessed with beautiful morning temperatures for the event.”
Hot Rocks chair Bart Miller was thrilled with the turnout of riders, volunteers and spectators alike.
“We want to thank all of our sponsors, volunteers, Rockwall Emergency Management and local law enforcement who helped make this event such a success,” Miller said.
