(Rockwall) September 27, 2012 – The Toyota US Open Triathlon, the final event of the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon Series Race to the Toyota Cup, will take place from 7:15 a.m. to noon Sunday, Oct. 7 at The Harbor on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall.
The event comprises a circular swim course starting and finishing at The Harbor; a bike tour through the city Rockwall; and an out-and-back running course through Rockwall’s residential streets.
More than 1,400 athletes from around the globe are expected to participate in the race to crown the Toyota US Open Cup Champion.
The series includes stops at South Beach, Austin, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Chicago and Los Angeles.
The prize purse for the Toyota US Open Dallas is $60,000 and the Toyota Cup purse is worth $149,000.
The four-time defending cup champion is Olympic Silver Medalist Lisa Norden from Sweden.
Established in 2007, the Toyota US Open Triathlon is the first US Open event in history.
