Nineteen Garland ISD bands to perform in one place

Community invited to attend GISD Band Festival

(Garland ISD) October 4, 2012 – With 19 middle and high school bands, it’s no wonder that Garland ISD was named a 2012 “Best Community for Music Education” by the National Association of Music Merchants. Don’t miss the opportunity to see all of GISD’s band students in one place at the 35th Annual Band Festival on Monday, Oct. 8.

“This annual festival is a marvelous opportunity to showcase the hard work of all the band students in the district,” commented Director of Fine Arts George Jones.

The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at GISD’s Homer B. Johnson Stadium. All seven high school bands will perform theirUILcompetition shows, and the 12 middle school bands will perform two selections each.

Festival tickets cost $4 and can be purchased from any GISD band student. They will also be available at the gate Oct. 8.  All proceeds go directly to GISD band programs.
