Nineteen Garland ISD bands to perform in one place

Community invited to attend GISD Band Festival

(Garland ISD) October 4, 2012 – With 19 middle and high school bands, it’s no wonder that Garland ISD was named a 2012 “Best Community for Music Education” by the National Association of Music Merchants. Don’t miss the opportunity to see all of GISD’s band students in one place at the 35^th Annual Band Festival on Monday, Oct. 8.

“This annual festival is a marvelous opportunity to showcase the hard work of all the band students in the district,” commented Director of Fine Arts George Jones.

The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at GISD’s Homer B. Johnson Stadium. All seven high school bands will perform theirUILcompetition shows, and the 12 middle school bands will perform two selections each.

Festival tickets cost $4 and can be purchased from any GISD band student. They will also be available at the gate Oct. 8.  All proceeds go directly to GISD band programs.
