The DAR National Defense Committee was established in 1926. Although DAR supports no candidates and is non-political, the National Defense committee encourages an informed membership, and thereby an informed public, to understand issues relevant to the sovereignty and independence of our nation.

The DAR believes that a strong military is vital to American national defense. DAR members encourage others to vote, communicate with government officials, promote strong principles in education, and unwaveringly support the Constitution of the United States of America, the patriotic values of our country, and the military men and women who serve the nation.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support a superior education for our nation’s children. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War. DAR is one of the world’s largest American service organizations.
