Community welcome to meet the newest member of the surgical team during an Open House from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, Nov. 12 at Lake Pointe Medical Center in Rowlett
(Rowlett – November 11, 2012) The Lake Pointe Health Network, based in Rowlett, is pleased to introduce the da Vinci® SiTM Surgical System to its operating room and to the community. This is a significant arrival because of the value it offers the surgical staff and those in the region that LPHN serves.
The da Vinci® SiTM Surgical System has several unique features designed to provide additional clinical benefits and efficiency in the operating room, many of which translate to patient benefits.
Here are a few of the features of the da Vinci® SiTM Surgical System:
- Enhanced 3D, high-definition vision of operative field with up to 10X magnification
- New optional dual console allows second surgeon to provide assistance
- Superior visual clarity of tissue and anatomy
- Surgical dexterity and precision far greater than even the human hand
- Updated and simplified user interface to enhance OR efficiency
- New ergonomic settings for greater surgeon comfort
Together, these technological advancements provide our surgeons unparalleled precision, dexterity and control that enable a minimally invasive approach for many complex surgical procedures.
“We believe that the da Vinci® SiTM Surgical System helps us provide the best possible outcomes and is proof of our commitment to our community to provide access to some of the latest advancements in minimally invasive surgery,” explains Debbie Moeller, chief operating officer.
During a procedure, the surgeon sits comfortably at a console, viewing the 3D, high-definition image of the patient’s anatomy. The surgeon uses controls below the viewer to move the instrument arms and camera. In real-time, the system translates the surgeon’s hand, wrist and finger movements into more precise movements of the miniaturized instruments inside the patient.
da Vinci® SiTM Surgical System’s advanced level of technology takes surgery beyond the limits of the human hand. This acquisition compliments our goal of extending minimally invasive surgery to the broadest possible base of patients. It can be used for a multitude of procedures, including, but not limited to: prostatectomy, hysterectomy, coronary artery bypass, mitral valve repair and colorectal surgery. And at Lake Pointe, our surgeons have the capability of providing single-site gallbladder removals.
Currently, the following physicians are trained on the da Vinci® SiTM Surgical System –
Christopher J. Cottrell, MD – General Surgeon
Michael W. Cowart, MD – OB/GYN
Catherine J. Olsen, DO – OB/GYN
Aimee Wiltz, MD – Urology
This list of physicians will continue to grow as more are trained on the da Vinci® SiTM Surgical System.
